Necklace Sizing

Find Your Necklace Length

Necklace length determines where a piece sits on your body. The right length depends on your neck size, preferred style, and neckline of your clothing.

40 cm
15.7 in
Choker
Sits at the base of the throat. Suits V-necks and open necklines.
45 cm
17.7 in
Princess
The most popular length. Sits just below the collarbone.
50 cm
19.7 in
Matinee
Falls at the upper chest. Suits crew necks and higher necklines.
55 cm
21.6 in
Opera
Sits lower on the chest. A longer, layering-friendly length.

How to Measure

1
Measure a necklace you already own Lay it flat and measure from end to end, including the clasp. This gives you your current preferred length.
2
Measure with a string or tape Wrap a string around your neck where you'd like the necklace to sit. Mark where the ends meet, then measure the string flat.
3
Use the extender chain Many MXW necklaces include an extender chain, giving you flexibility across two lengths. If you're between sizes, choose the shorter length and use the extender.
Tip: If you're unsure between two lengths, go slightly longer for comfort.

Note on large beaded necklaces: Necklaces with larger beads, especially 8 mm and above, can sit slightly shorter than a fine chain of the same stated length. For large beaded pieces, consider adding around 2 cm to your preferred length.

Measure your wrist Wrap a soft measuring tape snugly around your wrist, just above the wrist bone.
2
Add your preferred comfort allowance
  • +1–1.5 cm for a comfortable everyday fit
  • +2 cm for a looser, relaxed drape
3
Match to the chart below If you're between sizes, size up for comfort.
Tip: Measure your wrist in the evening, as wrists can be slightly larger later in the day.
